Queen's Baton Relay. 11 July 2022

Online map shows Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay campus route

A new online map has been created to show the route the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay will take when it comes to campus on Monday 11 July.

The University has lots of activities planned to mark the Baton relay and to celebrate its inspiring Batonbearers.

The Baton is due to set off on its official tour of Loughborough from the University’s Hazlerigg Building entrance at around 1pm, where there will be a celebration of the Commonwealth and the vibrant and diverse University community.

From Hazlerigg the Baton will travel along Towers Way, pausing at the Rugby pitch for a photo opportunity, before making its way to Shirley Pearce Square. Here the University will be hosting a Festival of Sport, joined by representatives from Loughborough College.

Students, staff, campus partners, alumni, and members of the local community are invited to line the Baton route and join in the fun at the festival, which will run from 12 noon until 3pm. There will be live music, interactive games, and food stalls selling dishes from across the Commonwealth.

The Baton is due to leave campus around 1.45pm. It will restart the next leg of its Loughborough tour from Queen’s Park, heading into Loughborough town centre where Charnwood Borough Council will be holding a celebratory event.

To follow the route, find places where you can view the Baton, and see the location of our Festival of Sport visit the University’s online map here.
