Loughborough-linked athletes claimed another three medals on the penultimate morning of sporting action at the Commonwealth Games.
In athletics, Loughborough College learner Daryll Neita added to her earlier bronze medal by winning silver in the Women’s 4x100m Relay.
The quartet, also featuring Asha Philip, Imani Lansiquot, and Bianca Williams, recorded 42.41 seconds to finish ahead of Jamaica (43.08) in third. Nigeria stormed to gold in 42.10.
England’s Men successfully defended their 4x100m Relay Commonwealth title by winning gold in 38.35, ahead of Trinidad and Tobago (38.70), and Nigeria (38.81).
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, who trains at the University, will claim a medal for his role in yesterday’s heat victory.
In Table Tennis, another Loughborough College learner, Ross Wilson, secured bronze with victory over Nigeria’s Tajudeen Agunbiade.
In an absorbing encounter at the NEC, Wilson finally prevailed 3-2 to add to his gold at Gold Coast 2018.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” he said.
“Home crowd, my family, friends, my girlfriend, my little nephew that’s just been born, they’ve all come to watch, and it makes me so proud to be able to go out there and perform in front of them.”
