Loughborough shortlisted in Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2022

Loughborough University has been shortlisted in four categories in this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).

The annual awards celebrate the incredible work carried out by higher education institutions across the UK and is the leading higher education awards ceremony based solely on student choice.

Thanks to reviews provided by Loughborough students, the University has been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Career Prospects
  • Halls and Student Accommodation
  • Facilities
  • Outreach and Widening Participation Submission Award (not student-led).

The WUSCAs are the only annual awards that are based solely on the views of real students studying in the UK. The Whatuni team verify around 35,000 reviews every year, that have been submitted by students either during on-campus visits or through the Whatuni website.

The reviews give prospective students access to honest, unbiased information when making decisions about what and where they would like to study.

As part of the awards last year, the Whatuni Student Bursaries programme was set up to give financial support to deserving students and to recognise institutions that had gone above and beyond to support their students during the pandemic. The winning institutions were given £10,000 each to be awarded to five students (£2,000 per student).

Following its success last year, the programme will run again in 2022. The £10,000 bursaries will be awarded to the winners of several categories, including the Outreach and Widening Participation Submission Award, which Loughborough is shortlisted for.

This year’s winners will be announced on Tuesday 24 May 2022 at a special ceremony in Canary Wharf, London. The winners' details will also be published on Twitter and the Whatuni website

The University has performed highly at the awards in previous years, taking the top spot in several categories, including Societies and Sports, Facilities, Students’ Union, Accommodation, and Giving Back, and has also been named University of the Year three times (2015, 2018, 2020).
