Loughborough University London’s latest round of Community Donations Fund now open for applications

Loughborough University London is delighted to announce that applications for the Community Donations Open Fund are now open.

The purpose of the Open Fund is to support the social, educational, cultural and physical wellbeing of people living close to the Olympic Park.

Organisations and groups based near the Olympic Park are invited to bid for up to £1,000 to support a project. They must be non-political in nature and only specific and identifiable projects will be considered.

It is strongly recommended applications clearly identify and outline the impact and benefits funding will provide, and they should also include a breakdown of how the funding will be used.

This year, the University will be allocating up to £10,000 for the London Open Fund.

Last year’s London Open Fund was the first of its kind, and it supported inspiring initiatives from primary schools, homeless charities, LGBT groups, community gardens and a poetry group.

Ben Cole, Stakeholder Development Manager for Loughborough University London, said: “We are proud to be a part of east London and very happy to be able to support the diverse talent on our doorstep through initiatives such as the Open fund.

"We are really keen to support organisations who are looking to have an impact on the communities in and around our campus.”

Sonia Quintero from Newham Poetry Group, who received funds from the University last year to print and launch a collection of local peoples’ poems commented: “I would like to express my gratitude to Loughborough University, for their support and commitment in the publication of our book, "Mixed Voices".

“I was really moved by our great book launch, and it makes me feel more inspired to continue my work with the community.”

Bids should be submitted using the application form which is available to download on the University’s Community website. These should then be emailed to S.Gration@lboro.ac.uk.

Alternatively, applications can be posted to: Sadie Gration, Corporate Communications, Hazlerigg Building, Loughborough University, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 3TU.

The deadline for all applications is Tuesday 30 April.

Please note the University receives a large number of applications, so not all projects may receive funding.
