Professor Jim Saker

Prof Saker is a long-standing Professor of Retail Management at Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics and has built up an impressive relationship with the automotive sector – from high-level collaborative research projects through to developing and leading strategic leadership executive education programmes for clients including Ford, Renault, Toyota, Scania, Mercedes and Group1, to name a few.

He was a co-founder of the MIRA Business Unit in 1992 and is often found in the Automotive Industry Power 100, a listing of the top most influential people in the sector.

Professor Saker said of the recognition: “Becoming a Life Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry is the culmination of a great year for both the Centre for Automotive Management and the School of Business and Economics, with the Renault Retail Group winning both the Motor Trader and Automotive Management Training Awards for our collaborative executive education programmes with Renault managers.”

The announcement was made at the Vice Presidents’ Dinner at the House of Lords, hosted by The Rt Hon. the Lord Brabazon of Tara DL, at the end of last year.

Professor Saker has also been reappointed to the Judging Panel of the AM Motor Industry Awards for 2019.
