Professor Amanda Daley

Leading expert on lifestyle interventions and health joins Loughborough University

Amanda Daley is bringing her expertise in lifestyle interventions and health outcomes to Loughborough University as Professor of Behavioural Medicine.

Professor Daley’s research is particularly focused around women’s health and she has published extensively on topics including pregnancy, postnatal depression and the menopause.

She is the chief investigator on several ongoing trials, examining the success of community and general practice based support programmes for physical activity and weight control.

Professor Daley has joined Loughborough’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS), named the world’s best place to study sports-related subjects in the 2018 global QS higher education league table.

She was formerly a Reader in Behavioural Medicine at the University of Birmingham’s College of Medical and Dental Sciences.

Speaking about her new role at Loughborough University Professor Daley said: “I have long admired the work of the SSEHS and I am particularly looking forward to working with colleagues at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM).

“Together I’m confident we will do research that will make a real difference to the health of the population.”

Professor Mark Lewis, Dean of the SSEHS, added: “We are particularly interested in Amanda’s skills in intervention and her work at the clinical interface, and how these will contribute to the core business of the school, specifically to the NCSEM”

Professor Daley has been appointed as part of the University’s Excellence100 campaign. Launched in January 2017, the campaign is aiming to recruit up to 100 outstanding academics across a wide range of disciplines.
