What does International Women in Engineering day mean to you? 

  • If we are going to have a future of equality, women have to be part of that story too, to ensure that the outcomes are really representative for our whole society 

Which Women in Engineering inspire you and why? 

  • Dyan Crowther, the CEO of HS1, Britain’s only high-speed railway  

  • Nicola Shaw, the CEO of National Grid 

  • And the many female apprentices and engineers who are now working in the railways  

What advice do you have for women thinking of a career in Engineering? 

  • Just do it! Don’t be put off by perceptions or old-fashioned views. You can change it by being part of it. 

What do you enjoy outside of work? 

  • I have a busy family life with my husband and two children, and we enjoy travelling, seeing exhibitions and heading out on our bikes.
