Join the Sustainability Team, MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace, and other industry experts for a lunchtime panel discussion on the future of food and how going vegan, eating seasonally, meal prepping and considering the impact of food waste, can all help support the future of our planet.
About the Panel:
Gregg Wallace
Gregg Wallace is a writer, media personality and former greengrocer. He is probably best known for co-presenting 'MasterChef', 'Celebrity MasterChef' and 'MasterChef: The Professionals' on BBC 2 and BBC 1. In 2020, he founded Gregg Wallace Health (GWH), a website programme to help people learn to lose weight and lead a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Louis Guest, Enva
Louis is the engagement manager for industry leading waste management provider Enva. Within Enva, Louis is responsible for a team set up with the goal of educating Enva’s customer base on how to manage their waste more sustainably in line with the waste hierarchy. Louis will also bring knowledge of some of the latest innovations from within the waste industry to try and reduce food waste, as well as some tips and tricks you could implement at home.
Dr Elliot Woolley, Wolfson School, Loughborough University
Elliot joined Loughborough University in 2010 in a business strategy development role for the Competitive Sustainable Manufacturing research cluster. In April 2012, he was appointed as a Lecturer in Sustainable Manufacturing and promoted to Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Manufacturing in 2018. Dr Woolley's main research focus is concerned with creating technological solutions for sustainable production and consumption, with active research in resource efficiency in food provision.
Varun Shivdasani, Head Performance Chef, Elite Athlete Centre (EAC), Loughborough University
As Loughborough’s Head Performance Chef, Varun understands what it takes to fuel high level performance in sport and has supported international athletes and teams on their journeys to sporting success. Varun is passionate about supporting those participating in sport to transition to a more eco-friendly, plant-based diet.
Event attendees will be able to taste vegan food at its best, with lunch provided by Humpit, Loughborough Students' Union hummus bar.
