Pauline Matturi

Nominated by Ally McDonald-Alonso and Ruth Casey

Close-up of Pauline Matturi.

Ally:

Pauline is often praised for her outgoing performances when she delivers training or events, of which she is outstanding. But it’s the little-known praise she gives behind the scenes that actually means a lot.

Pauline was on GNOMS and saw me present and challenge in one of the most senior meetings. She had my back, and she took the time to compliment me outside of the meeting. As someone who hides their anxiety and illness through confidence, her private messages of encouragement are so much more powerful than her public ones. She really does have this sister's back.

Ruth:

I have never met a person with as much infectious energy, strategic thinking, and people focus as Pauline. Whether she is delivering training, facilitating away sessions or just chatting in the corridor, Pauline leaves me feeling on top of the world and capable of doing anything.

One of Pauline's great skills is challenging people's behaviours and perspectives in a supportive and constructive manner. She genuinely has changed my work practice by challenging things I have said or she has observed. This is incredibly powerful.

I never thought that I would dance at work and Pauline had me doing the soul train out of a training session. I wish we could all be a bit more Pauline - she is a major asset to the University.
