Dr Kinga Morsanyi, hands outstretched holding four dice

Dr Kinga Morsanyi

I’m a psychologist interested in high-level thinking processes, including reasoning, decision making and mathematical cognition. I also have an interest in atypical development, and, in particular, in autism and dyscalculia.

I have always been attracted to both humanities and science subjects, and when I had to decide on what subject to study at university, I really struggled to make a choice. In the end, I chose psychology, which offered the possibility to look at some of the fundamental questions of the human condition, while using a systematic and rigorous analytical approach.

The dice in my hand relate to one of my research interests: probabilistic reasoning. Thinking about randomness is notoriously difficult, and people tend to make systematic mistakes. My research aims to uncover the sources of these mistakes, and, eventually, shed light on how thinking processes can go wrong.
