Hannah Smith

I'm a PhD Researcher in the Chemistry Department focusing on neurodegenerative disease cell culture models.

I did my undergraduate at Bangor in Sport Science with Outdoor Activities and then came to Loughborough for my masters in Musculoskeletal Sport Science and Health. During this, I found a love for clinical populations and research but knew I wanted to help the world in some way hence moving into research.

The item I am holding is a plushie brain cell as my research is focused on neurodegenerative diseases and injuries such as Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia, Spinal Cord Injury and Stroke. I have seen close family friends cope with life following a diagnosis and I would like to help in a small way with enhancing this field of research for the betterment of others.
