A Journey to Leadership
May 2025
For our networks 1 year anniversary we held a panel discussion. We were joined by 3 key members of the University who each shared their own experiences of leadership in the higher education sector including the challenges and obstacles they overcame to get to their positions today.
Professional Photo Opportunity
Various dates
As a network we have ran photo opportunities for our members to get a professional photo taken with the University photographer. We try and run these regularly for our members, with the last event being in June 2025.
ECN Social Events
Various dates
Throughout the year we also run regular social events for our members to get together and network outside of the office. These include our 'Cocktails and Mocktails' events at JC's!
Your Personal Brand

You personal brand is a culmination of the experiences, skills and values that differentiate you as an individual within an organisation. In this session Afra Padmore and Bethan Rumsey took us through the concept of personal brand and how this develops across your career.
October Masterclass
October 2024
For our first ECN masterclass we were joined by Pauline Matturi who led us through effective strategies for networking including advice and tips. This was followed by a session by Warren Bramley around designing for the future and effective leadership.
Doctoral Researcher Thinktank
June 2024
'What I wish I knew' was our first thinktank event designed for Doctoral Researchers. Facilitated by Aakif Imthiyaz and Chidinma Okorie our ECN thinktank brought together Doctoral Researchers at various stages through their research, sharing knowledge, best practice and advice.
