LU Symposium for Anti-Racism
Wednesday 12 February 2025 | 2-4pm | West Park Teaching Hub
In May 2022, Loughborough was awarded our Bronze Race Equality Charter (REC) award. In February 2025, we mark the mid-way point in our REC cycle with Loughborough University’s first Symposium for Anti-Racism.
The Symposium for Anti-Racism will be an opportunity for the institution reflect on the initial priorities laid out in our REC action plan and take stock of our progress - to celebrate our achievements; to re-state our commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution; and to outline our next steps on this journey.
The Symposium will begin with an opening address from Provost Prof. Rachel Thompson, followed by a panel discussion with senior staff, EDI leads and external partners.
Attendees will then be able to explore an exhibition showcasing the anti-racism projects and research being led by staff and students across both our campuses, as well as campus partners and external partners.
The event is open to staff, students, and internal and external partners. Refreshments will be provided.
Showcase your work in our exhibition
There is an open call to any staff, students or campus partners who would like to showcase their work in our exhibition. This may be research in race-related topics, REC priority work, projects, events or activity which contributes to LU's anti-racism journey.
Exhibitors may display their work with posters, pop-up banners, interactive display or activity. Displays should be staffed from 2-4pm. Exhibitors may arrive at West Park Teaching Hub from 1pm to set up. You will be provided with a table, chairs and display board, please let us know if you have any additional requirements.
