Training
Training is essential for both students and staff to help build a safe, respectful University community. It gives everyone the tools to recognise harassment and sexual misconduct, understand how to respond, and know where to go for support. As part of the OfS E6 regulation, training ensures we all understand our rights, responsibilities, and the role we play in creating a positive environment for everyone. Training helps you feel more confident and prepared when you are supporting someone, challenging inappropriate behaviour, or handling a disclosure. Training helps you feel more confident and prepared.

- The content will be designed so that it can be easily adapted by facilitators to deliver in different formats, e.g., large groups, in person, focused ND difficulties, international students.
- The content, devised by sector leaders will ensure that it is trauma informed and consistent with messaging throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
- The staff training is delivered by an external legal provider who will ensure that the staff training is also trauma informed and will also ensure the content and delivery of the training is respectful of cultural differences.
- The content and delivery will be respectful of cultural differences in terms of awareness of topics, previous education in this area, barriers to reporting and accessing support.
If someone doesn’t feel able to do the training what happens?
The University’s primary concern is that no one attending the training is exposed to harm. The University will listen to the reasons why someone feels unable to participate in the training, assess whether the training is appropriate, and consider whether it needs to be tailored to meet specific needs.
