Data and reporting

Loughborough University collects a range of data for compliance and reporting purposes. This demographic data is collected for staff and students and processed to fulfil requirements such as publish sector equality duty and Higher Education Statistical Analysis (HESA). This data is also used to inform action planning for the EDI core plan to reduce inequalities for our staff and students.

Statement on collecting and using data

To achieve data driven EDI strategy and action plans with interventions that reflect the anti-discriminatory approach, the data quality, analysis and contextualisation at Loughborough university should adopt ‘Leave no one behind’ principle.

This involves centring the voices and impact for those marginalised, tackling social inequality by centring lived narratives, reflected in data to deconstruct and change power relations.  Adopt Intersectional data practices explore the impact of discrimination due to multiple aspects of personal identity. Deliberate approaches to data value chain (collection, analysis, context, storage and sharing) that seek to minimise harm.

With the key aim to use quantitative and qualitative data to build sufficient understanding and impact of intersectional inequity across protected characteristics and marginalised groups in the university community to inform effective action and remove barriers to equality.
