Greeshma Bindu Nandakumar

Construction Project Management MSc Graduate

Having just completed her master’s degree with the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, Greeshma reflects on her successful time at Loughborough as part of the ASHRAE prize winning team.

"I’ve always wanted to get involved in construction projects that involve sustainable solutions. My research dissertation title was ‘Corporate sustainability of Marine construction firms in India’. Global warming is on the rise and the major cause is the pollution in our oceans. I chose to do this project because we often forget that construction out at sea can also contribute to the pollution of oceans.

My greatest achievement during my time at Loughborough would most definitely be winning the ASHRAE competition with my dear teammates. The project was to design a sustainable hospital building. My contribution was to check the site's sustainability and water efficiency of the building being designed. There was a lot of hard work involved because we had to prioritise our assignments, dissertations and other commitments to get the work done.

Loughborough has inspired me in many ways, ranging from the teachers and students taking part in volunteering activities, to the promotion of sustainability in all possible ways. If you believe that you can build a better world, study engineering."
