No.1 in the World

Loughborough University has been ranked number one in the world for sports-related subjects for 10 consecutive years in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The QS ranking is based on surveying academic staff that declare a speciality in the subject area, and employers who seek to employ graduates that specialise in the discipline.

It is also based on research output and impact, with both citations and paper output measured over a five-year period.

The University has taken the title ever since it was launched by QS in 2017, a testament to its outstanding regard among the world’s academic community.

A monumental achievement

Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President at QS commented: "Loughborough University’s decade at number one in Sports-related Subjects is the academic equivalent of a dominant title run in elite sport.

"To lead globally for ten consecutive years requires not just peak performance, but consistency, depth and the ability to stay ahead of the competition season after season. As Sir Alex Ferguson once said, ‘At the top level, consistency is everything’ - and Loughborough’s results reflect exactly that, underpinned by sustained strength in reputation, employability and research impact."
