Background

Priyanka is currently a PhD student at Loughborough University. She is a Mechanical Engineering (Hons) graduate from Gauhati University (India) with an MSc in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Management from Loughborough University.

Priyanka has been awarded the best Year 1 PhD student in the Mechanics of Advanced Materials Research Group (MoAM), Loughborough University. She was presented the runner-up award of Postgraduate Female Engineer of the Year 2021 organised by the Women's Engineering Society, Loughborough University.

 

Title of thesis: Laser Surface Engineering of Ultra-hard Materials

Priyanka's research interest is in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies, such as laser micro/nano-machining, and surface modification of ultra-hard materials by using laser pulsed ablation and laser shock processing techniques. Her research aims to improve the service life of cutting tools used in different industrial applications.
