BSc (Hons), MSc (computing for commerce and industry), MSc(advanced engineering)

  • Doctoral Researcher

Background

Academic history started with the open university gaining a bachelor’s in science and then a master’s degree. In 2017 Owen started at Loughborough University, attaining a second master's in advanced engineering and now concluding the path with a PhD Engineering research initially was the application of computing technology to engineering design and manufacturing systems.

Currently, Owen's research focuses on developing prosthetic bone attachment for femoral amputees; my PhD research is focused on developing an innovative prosthetic Knee joint for femoral amputees using advanced materials, simulation techniques and additive manufacturing technological advancements.

Title of thesis: Prosthetic Knee for Tibiofemoral Amputees

The different research conducted, i.e. prosthetic implants for femoral amputees and innovative knee prosthetics are motivated to help individuals who have suffered life-changing injuries with the lose of lower limbs to regain a life of relative normality, alleviating the additional complications associated with a loss of a limb/s.
