Background
Gerry has a first-class honours degree from the Technical University of Crete, Greece in Electronic Engineering with enhancement in Telecommunications and High Power RF and RADAR systems. He has also obtained a master's degree in Personal Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Westminster, London UK.
He is a Technical Expert with broad experience in the development, integration and successful delivery of state-of-the-art systems into service in the Defence field; for the Land, Sea and Air Domains.
His key experience is in High Power RF & Telecommunication Systems Engineering and development and has been involved in all the delivery phases of the engineering lifecycle.
He is a proven international team player with a track record of cooperation at all levels with overseas and/or international Defence Organisations. A highly motivated leader he has a good reputation for customer and user engagement to enable focused, and where possible, smooth formal transition of the product from factory to operational capability.
In 2003 Gerry joined the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), initially as Team leader of a RADAR specialised Team. From 2005 until the present date he has been one of the main Technical Leaders of the UK High Power RF Systems programme which focuses on RF systems development. He is the principal UK MOD representative, Chair and Co-chair of specific NATO forums that conduct research on RF effects.
Prior to joining the UK MoD, Gerry was a Principal Engineer at the Central Research Laboratories Instrumentation Products Division, which was part of THORN-EMI Ltd Hayes Middlesex London, main UK MoD contractors. During this time Gerry successfully led both defence and commercial programmes of advanced radio design and development, such as FORMULA 1 radios, 2nd and 3rd generation base stations RF systems Development.
Gerry is registered as a Chartered Engineer (C Eng) with the UK Engineering Council, as well as having the status of “European Engineer –Eur Ing- awarded by FEANI- Federation of National Engineering Associations. In May 2010 he was elected as a Fellow of The Institution of Engineering and Technology – (FIET).
