I completed my Undergraduate degree (BSc Psychology) in Chester and a Master’s degree in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of York. I then moved to Loughborough to join the Mathematics Education Centre and completed my PhD (Mathematics Education) there in 2022, which was focused on how numerical meaning is attached to novel artificial symbols.

I am now a postdoctoral Research Associate working in the Centre for Early Mathematics Learning. Specifically, I am working on the centre’s Challenge 1, mainly looking at how key mathematical understanding emerges.

I am particulalry interested in how children begin to learn about and understand mathematical concepts, and how this develops over time. I am also interested in how broader thinking and langugage skills affect their learning and mathematical deveopment.
