Background:
Graduated with a BSc(Eng) (Hons) Metallurgy from London University in 1965. He then had a 38 year career in the Steel Industry including 15 years in Research and Development, 15 years in Technical Management and 8 years in Operations and Quality Management. He became a part-time lecturer in the Department of Materials at Loughborough University in 2004.
