Many students completing a Law degree progress to legal practice, either as a barrister at the Bar, or as a solicitor in a law firm. Other types of legal work available include working in the civil service, including the government legal service, or in local government; being an in-house lawyer in a large corporation or other institution; working in a community legal service, advice service, international institution or international NGO; or working for the Courts and Tribunals service, or as a legal executive or a patent attorney.
