How to include a gift in your Will
We have produced some guidance and suggested wording (PDF) for your Will or Codicil to help you leave a gift in your Will. This will help to ensure that your gift is tax efficient, as the University has Exempt Charity status.
Whenever you write or update your Will, we strongly recommend that you seek professional advice from a solicitor.
Adding a gift to an existing Will
If you have already made a Will, you can add a donation to the University by simply adding a Codicil form (PDF) to an existing Will.
Gifts can support research our scientists undertake in areas such as dementia and arthritis or scholarships to help more young people access higher education and achieve their full potential at Loughborough.
You can also choose to remember those who have a connection to the University campus with a plaque in our memorial garden.
Cheques received as funeral donations should be made payable to Loughborough University. We can provide donation envelopes on request in advance.
To discuss your wishes, please contact the Philanthropy team on: 01509 228698
During the University’s regular telephone fundraising programme current Loughborough students call alumni to invite support for University fundraising priorities.
If you are able to spare the time to talk with a Loughborough student about your career and life since graduation they would be grateful for any advice you may be able to offer. Your caller will also ask to update your contact details for alumni communications and invitations.
Please be assured that our students are fully trained and supervised and are working on behalf of the University. Your personal data and gifts are processed securely and in line with University policies.
If you wish to verify that the call you receive is genuinely coming from Loughborough, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone on 01509 228698.
If you do not wish to receive a call, just let us know by emailing email@example.com.

A corporate partnership with Loughborough University can bring invaluable benefits to your business; whether that’s exposure to our 17,000 students, increased profile to our 150,000 alumni or as a philanthropic vehicle which builds trust and loyalty with your internal and external stakeholders.
Our wealth of sporting and academic awards and outstanding accolades makes Loughborough one of the best Universities to align your brand to. There are opportunities to:
- Sponsor one of our renowned sports teams, who have high profile both across the University, the East Midlands and the wider Higher Education sector, as well as national media and social media coverage.
- Invest in the future of skilled graduates (Loughborough University is ranked 5th in the UK for graduate employability) by supporting one of our many projects, such as the development of our highly anticipated STEMLab, as well as a wide range of research and enterprise projects.
- Showcase your CSR credentials by investing in the lives of young people. Corporate scholarships will ensure that a young person from a disadvantaged background gets the opportunity to maximise their potential.
Each partnership is completely bespoke, recognising the strengths of each organisation. We value all the opportunities that a wider partnership can bring, from providing Gift-in-Kind support, to helping you promote employee development and loyalty through exciting team building activities.
Trusts and Foundations
Trusts and Foundations support is invaluable for developing projects that have real impact for people or the world around us. This includes education, health and wellbeing, environmental factors, safety of human life, and the arts.
Current research includes:
- Studies into exercise and its impact on dementia
- Cancer recovery rates in children utilising exercise as medicine
Current projects include:
- Wearable Air Pollution monitoring systems
- Early detection equipment for landslides
- Breathing controlled communication systems
- Landmine detection and clearance
These are just a very small selection of projects within the University that will make a real difference and ultimately, in many cases, save lives.
We can also provide support for individuals or departments within the University wishing to develop their own proposals or applications.
Stocks and shares donations
Share Giving is the most generous tax relief available to benefactors as you can claim relief on both Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Donors wishing to give stocks and shares to the University can complete a stock transfer form. Please contact us if you have any queries.
