Giving to Loughborough

Loughborough Fund, giving to loughborough

Donations to wherever the need is greatest support any areas across the University that are in vital need of funds. Unrestricted gifts are particularly valuable as they allow us to respond flexibly and support projects which otherwise may not receive funding.

Gifts to wherever the need is greatest are dispersed across the University to support projects, such as:

  • Hardship bursaries to support students facing financial difficulties;
  • Scholarships to enable students from low income backgrounds to study at Loughborough;
  • Support for student clubs and societies;
  • Allowing students to enjoy the best possible 'Loughborough Experience' by helping with equipment, refurbishments and facilities in Halls, at the Students’ Union and bringing new and urgently needed services to our students.

Examples of areas which have been made possible thanks to gifts from our alumni and friends are:

  • Victim Support Outreach Centre
    Based at the Students’ Union, the centre ensures there is a strong support system in place in case any students become victims of crime.
  • Hall Common Room Refurbishments
    Thanks to our alumni, grants were awarded to Elvyn Richards, Falkner Eggington, Robert Bakewell and Rutherford halls last year to make essential refurbishments.
  • Open Door: Skills for Successful Employment
    This joint project between the Counselling and Disability Service and the Careers Network provided workshops and employment advice for disabled students.

Since 2002, this fund, also known as the Loughborough Fund, has supported over 200 different projects.

Thank you!

Your generosity and support makes life that much better for our students, especially those in need, giving them a helping hand on the road to success.

"As LSU President 2015-2016, it was a great honour to see first-hand the impact your donations have had on the students and on our campus. In the last 12 months, gifts have helped fund a minibus for the Students Union which has allowed students to travel around the country for external trips and conferences, sports fixtures and worthwhile volunteering projects, enabling them to be a valued part of the Loughborough community, make friends and develop themselves as individuals. The minibus has also facilitated the LSU Nightbus, a free bus service that ensures students get home after nights out and don’t walk home alone; The bus has been essential to our commitment to making sure our students are safe at all times. Thank you very much for your support." Jess Excell, Former Students' Union President

"All involved express our sincerest gratitude to donors for enabling us to promote and run the Loughborough Victim Support Centre. As a result, over a hundred victims of crime have received support from our Loughborough student volunteers. The project has enabled students to take on rewarding voluntary roles which have in turn increased their transferable skills and employability, as well as benefiting crime victims. This would not have been possible without your support – thank you!” Dr Louise Grove, from the Department of Social Sciences
