The University Strategy “Creating Better Futures. Together” puts Sustainability and addressing Climate Change and Net Zero at the heart of the University’s agenda to 2030. We are a proud signatory of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aim to use our position as a Top 10 UK University to address global challenges and create a sustainable future for all.

Donations worth £437k given to the BHF

Since 2012 LU students and staff have donated items worth £437k to the British Heart Foundation.

It takes 12 bees to produce one teaspoon of honey. We have around 500,000 in our apiary.

Waste and recycling

The university works hard, with both staff and students, to manage our waste seeking opportunities to reduce waste, maximise reuse, increase recycling and divert waste from landfill at every opportunity.

The University is committed to creating a healthy, sustainable environment that is accessible for everyone.

Utilities

It takes a lot of energy to support a world class university and there is a fine balance between reducing energy consumption and providing world class facilities to our staff and students.

Biodiversity

The University has and established Biodiversity Working Group. The remit of this group is to develop and steer delivery of the Biodiversity Action Plan for the whole University.
