Master's degrees

We run degree programmes that offer the opportunity to develop skills in a range of genres, and the impetus to work towards completed creative work of publishable standard.

Our MA programmes expose the students to a wide range of professional development training and opportunities, encouraging students to think about their transferrable skills and career as a writer, as well as their own writing.

The courses include core creative writing modules alongside professional development: students will learn how these things relate to each other in the case of each individual; their writing, skills and aspirations. There are workshops on a range of genres in fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry, as well as sessions on how to plan, structure and edit completed work in your chosen form. Students will also learn about the role of writers in a variety of settings, including the Heritage Sector, community arts and events. The course also includes training on research skills, including accessing information from a range of sources, which are key to post-graduate study, writing the dissertation, and working as a writer.
