Hanye Yang holds a BA in English from Sun Yat-sen University and MA in Journalism from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Hanye has been conducting her doctoral research since October 2022 under the supervision of Dr Vaclav Stetka and Prof. James Stanyer.

Hanye has a keen interest in digital culture, political communication, and comparative media research. Her doctoral research explores fact-checking practices in China and discovers the effect of fact-checking in combatting misinformation.
