About STEMLab
Opened in 2017, Loughborough University's award-winning* STEMLab provides state-of-the-art facilities for our students with extensive modern and well-equipped laboratories for science, engineering and technology.
STEMLab is designed to enhance the Loughborough student experience by:
- understanding the synergies between subjects and using the shared space to create opportunities for interdisciplinary working
- increasing our capacity to provide students with hands-on practical experience in an industry-standard environment
- offering a 'drop-in' engineering workshop, alongside a range of modern laboratories and teaching spaces.
STEMLab enables us to equip students with the skills they need to pursue STEM careers - and, in doing so, supports the vital role of the University in developing skilled graduates who are ready to make a difference across a range of industries.
Enterprise and innovation
STEMLab is also the home of our Enterprise Start-up Lab - providing support and expertise to help enterprising students develop their busines ideas.
The Start-Up Lab’s headquarters is an open plan, vibrant co-working space based in the STEMLab Ideas Factory. Through peer support and coaching, the Start-Up Lab is Loughborough University's focal point for entrepreneurial support.
