Using the library

Finding books on the catalogue

The library stock books in both print and electronic format, which you can find on the Catalogue. Just enter the title of the book you are looking for and click Search.

The Catalogue will show you both books held in London and Loughb‌orough. To see how many copies are held and where you can find them in the Library click on Availability link.

Books with Location Library London are on the London campus. Books with Location Library are on the Loughborough Campus.

The Shelfmark will tell you where to find the book in the Library. The shelfmark number is located on the spine of each book and the books are arranged in numerical order in the Library. Books on the same subject are given the same shelfmark number.

The Status will tell you how long you are able to borrow the books for. If there is a date after the status, this means that the book is currently being borrowed by another user and is due to be returned to the Library on that date. Books that say (On Shelf) are available in the Library.

The Catalogue will tell you if the Library holds multiple versions of a book, for example multiple editions, or a print and electronic copy.

To view an ebook click View Online. You may be required to enter your Athens username and password. Please see our ebooks section for more information.
