Personal titles

Cases for promotion to a Personal Chair or the award of the title Reader will be considered by the Sub-Committee for the Award of Titles. The Sub-Committee meets every June and September. A Dean of School may recommend a member of staff for promotion to a Personal Chair or Readership at any time but should be mindful that the Sub-Committee currently meets twice a year.  Please submit applications to the HR Services team by email to personaltitles@lboro.ac.uk. The next scheduled meetings are:

  • Wednesday 26 June 2024 - the deadline for application is Wednesday 5th June 2024
  • Tuesday 3 December 2024 - the deadline for application is Tuesday 12 November 2024
  • Wednesday 25 June 2025 - the deadline for application is Wednesday 4 June 2025

The Sub-Committee membership is as follows:

  • Provost - Chair
  • PVC (EDI) - ex-officio
  • PVC (R&I) - ex-officio
  • PVC (E&SE) - ex-officio
  • PVC (Sport) - ex-officio

Three senior professors from across the University and two Deans on a rotational basis.

Plus up to three co-opted members to ensure that the diversity of the academic staff population is appropriately reflected in the committee membership.
