Covid-19 Community information

The University campuses in Loughborough and London are operating in a limited capacity in line with Government advice.

The University continues to follow national restrictions. At present students have been advised to stay at home other than in a limited set of circumstances. Some campus operations are taking place in a way that mitigates risks and meets national guidance. We look forward to welcoming all our staff and students back when guidance allows.

When will students return to Loughborough?

Students have been advised they should not return to Loughborough unless they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Travel plans cannot be changed 
  • They do not have adequate space / facilities at home to study or undertake examinations,
  • They consider that your mental health would be negatively affected if you remain at home,
  • They are part of an elite sport performance pathway

What social distancing measures and other precautions are in place on campus?

A range of measures are in place. These include:

  • Social distancing measures in all buildings on campus, including one-way systems, social distancing markers on floors and in some cases the use of face coverings.
  • Use of protective screens, provision of hand sanitiser and enhanced cleaning regime in all buildings.
  • In-house testing and contract tracing system.

What guidance has been given to students?

The University continues to regularly communicate with its students.  Students have been advised to stay at home in line with current Government instructions.  They can return in a limited set of circumstances.  See question one above

Are students allowed to move back into shared housing in the community?

Has any extra guidance been given to those living off campus in the community, especially about adhering to the numbers of people allowed to gather in house and in gardens?

Guidance has been provided to all students.  This guidance, including details of the steps the University will take if the guidance isn't followed, is available on the University's coronavirus webpages.

What do I do if I want to complain about students not adhering to social distancing off campus?

You can report breaches of Covid-19 regulations involving students to the University by telephoning 222141. Please report incidents as they occur. The University will follow up in line with its new disciplinary processes.

What is the situation regarding international students? Will they be required to quarantine?

At present the government requires travellers entering the UK from certain countries and territories to self-isolate. The list of countries and territories this applies to is changing regularly. Those international students who are coming into University accommodation will be supported to self-isolate if they are required to at the point at which they enter the country.
