Welcome to the Counselling Service
The Counselling Service is currently experiencing a very high demand for appointments so you may wait longer than usual to be seen or to be offered ongoing counselling.
Initial assessment appointments for next term will be available from Monday 11 April. There are a limited number of these appointments so if you are not able to make the time offered, have to cancel or do not attend, we may not be able to offer you an alternative.
If after having that appointment you wish to have ongoing counselling sessions following this appointment, please be advised that the wait may be 1-2 months. (Updated 1 April 2016)
The Counselling Service is available to all students and members of staff and offers an opportunity to talk and reflect with a professionally trained person who is outside your immediate situation.
People use counselling for all kinds of different reasons and you don’t need to be in a crisis to come here. Counselling can’t take away life’s difficulties but can help you to find ways forward, make decisions, gain new perspectives, discover solutions and come to terms with and manage challenging life events.
We are a well-established and experienced team of counsellors and you can talk to us about any personal, social or emotional concern, whether or not it is affecting your work or studies.
As a university Counselling Service we have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different pressures and difficulties associated working in a university environment.Information for Students
