Background

Mohammed graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Industrial Engineering from King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia in 2011. He obtained his MSc degree (Hons) in Manufacturing Systems from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 2017 and was awarded his PhD degree in Manufacturing Systems from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 2020. Mohammed attained his second PhD, which was based on Industry 4.0 Physical and Software Systems Adaptations, from Loughborough University in 2024.

He joined Loughborough University in 2020 working at the Intelligent Automation Centre as a Research Associate in Manufacturing Education for the fourth Industrial Revolution for the MAESTRO project, co-funded by the ERASMUS+. Mohammed is currently working as Research Associate in Smart Automation and Robotics Modelling, supporting the IRaaS project.

He previously worked as a Production Manager for ARCOM Industrial Group, Saudi Arabia from 2011- 2013. After that, he worked as a Researcher and lecturer assistant at the Industrial Engineering Department, College of Engineering, King Saud University from 2013 – 2019, where he co-authored a project and worked on another two research projects.

Mohammed's research interests lie in the field of intelligent automation, with a particular focus on manufacturing system modelling and the application of distributed artificial intelligence, knowledge-based systems, mathematical optimization, and MCDM. His primary area of expertise centres around modular and adaptable production systems.

Additionally, he places special emphasis on exploring the sustainability aspects of Industry 4.0 technology by investigating the relationship between current cutting-edge technologies and the UN 2030 Sustainable Agenda.

Mohammed is also dedicated to investigating innovative pedagogical methods and techniques for designing and updating engineering courses to align with the Industry 4.0 landscape, while maintaining harmony with the UN 2030 Sustainable Agenda.
