Background

Following graduation from Loughborough (mathematics), Edward has spent his career in Defence Science and Technology (S&T) research, with a range of roles from mathematical modelling, operational research to strategic leadership roles in the MOD. Edward is currently MOD’s Commissioner for AI, Autonomy and Cyber.

  • Master of Mathematics (four year undergraduate degree) in Mathematics – Loughborough University 
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Materials for Engineering Applications – University of Surrey 
  • Chartered Mathematician 
  • Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications 
  • Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts 
  • Edward chairs the Loughborough University School of Science Industrial Advisory Board and is a member of the Wolfson School Strategic Advisory Board. He also supports the MTC funded Industrial Policy Research Centre in Wolfson. 
  •  Edward is Chair of the Alliance for Data Science Professionals Alliance for Data Science Professionals  
  • Edward is a member of the Governing Body of the University of Winchester. 
  • Edward has varied links across industry and academia.
