Four students from the Wolfson School have been recognised as top-performing students across the University at the latest Academic Awards.

This week, the Academic Excellence Awards took place at the University where twenty-nine Scholars were recognised for their achievement as the top-performing students in their Schools for the previous academic year.

Hosted by Nick Jennings, Vice-Chancellor and Rachel Thomson, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education & Student Experience the event included a drinks reception, followed by an awards ceremony and a three-course dining experience.

All students were presented with a certificate, wall plaque and cheque for £500 at the celebratory dinner. The Deans and Associate Deans for Education and Student Experience from each School and colleagues from Loughborough Students’ Union were also in attendance.

Four students from the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing were included in the winning line-up:

  • Geraint Saich - Mechanical Engineering (prize for Part C)
  • Jonathan Moeller-Schwartz - Electronic and Electrical Engineering (prize for Part A)
  • P J Florida-James - Mechanical Engineering (prize for Foundation year)
  • Tomisin Sanni - Electronic and Electrical Engineering (prize for Part B)

One of the students from the School, Jonathan said, "I am so thrilled and proud to have received this award. My first year at university wasn’t always easy but thanks to my academics and the wider Loughborough University community I was able to achieve a great set of results as well as settle right into university life. To be recognised for my academic achievement has made me feel so positive about what the future holds!"

Professor Rachel Thomson commented, “I am very proud of the achievements of all of Loughborough’s students and believe that it is important to take time to celebrate their successes. These Academic Excellence awards recognise the achievements of our undergraduate students in their studies."

Congratulations to Geraint, Jonathan, PJ, Tomisin and all of the inspiring winners from Schools across the University.
