Chief Scientific Adviser visits the Peter Harrison Centre

Professor Lucy Chappell, Chief Scientific Adviser for the UK Department of Health and Social Care has spoken of the potential impact of Peter Harrison Centre research following a recent visit to Loughborough University.

During her visit, Prof Chappell was accompanied on a tour of the Peter Harrison Centre by Prof Vicky Tolfrey, Adam Dickinson and PhD student Thomas Rietveld who demonstrated the facilities available.

Following the visit, Professor Chappell explained the Peter Harrison Centre is undertaking vital research with the potential to improve health and wellbeing in the UK.

She explained: “I was so impressed by my visit to the Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport where I saw the vital work that research and innovation is already having on athletes with a disability.

“It is so clear that research continues to inform and improve both the physical and emotional impact of people living with disabilities. The Centre has led on an inclusive approach to its staff and its research."
