Intensive Pre-sessional English Language Courses

Undergraduate applicants, who fall short of the English language requirements for their chosen course may, at the discretion of the relevant School or Department, be admitted onto intensive pre-sessional English language courses as an alternative way to satisfy the English language conditions of their offer.

Due to the popularity of these pre-sessional English language courses, only applicants who select Loughborough University as their firm choice will be permitted to attend the course.

Please note that applicants applying to the above listed courses in the School of Business and Economics and the Department Social Sciences which require a higher level of English language are not eligible to attend a pre-sessional English language course in order to satisfy the English language conditions of their offer.

Important Information

Following changes made by the UKVI to the list of Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) from 6 April 2015, all students who are being admitted onto English Language Pre-sessional courses A, B, C and D must have a UKVI IELTS SELT issued by an approved IELTS test centre.

A list of the test centres which offer the IELTS SELT can be found on the UKVI website .

Applicants attending the pre-sessional courses will be given an English test at the end of their course. Those who have not met the acceptable standard may be required to take additional English language classes during the rest of the academic year. There will be no charge for such in-sessional classes.

More detailed information about pre-sessional course dates and tuition fees can be found on the English Language Support Service webpages www.lboro.ac.uk/services/elss/pre-sessional/entry/
