Get into Teaching
The Department for Education provides a service for second year undergraduates and career changers who want to teach a priority subject but are not ready to apply this recruitment year.
This project aims to increase the chances of prospective candidates choosing teaching and provide them with support to plan their ITT application in advance so they are in a position to make prompt well prepared ITT applications when it is time to submit an application.
The Department for Education has recruited specialist advisers who provide a dedicated one-to-one support service to help and support candidates with their application journey. Advisers advise and guide potential applicants in areas such as gaining school experience, information about different training routes available, directing to relevant events and helping with application tips.
To access this service, please register with the Get into Teaching site.
All current and prospective trainee teachers must pass skills tests in numeracy and literacy before they can start on a teacher training course.
If you would like to contact someone regarding Skills Tests, please contact the learndirect helpdesk (0300 303 9613) which is available from Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Or email: firstname.lastname@example.org or go to their website learndirect.com
