Materials Research School

Research in materials and materials related challenges is extremely diverse and is therefore not exclusive to the Department of Materials. In recognition of this the University has established the Materials Research School as one of a number of interdisciplinary research schools to maximise collaborations across traditional departmental boundaries.
The Materials Research School focuses on bringing together the significant strengths in materials research across Loughborough University to tackle projects which demand a multidisciplinary approach. The School is supported by an excellent range of state of the art experimental facilities for materials research. There are a wide range of ongoing research projects, carried out in collaboration with UK and international academic institutions, research organisations and companies. Particular emphasis is placed on providing solutions to real industrial problems, from life extension of current engineering components to the development of novel materials.
