Biography

Prior to joining Loughborough University, Andrew had a varied and exciting career spread liberally around the world that ranged from teaching and lecturing through to a 4-year stint as a senior innovation consultant focusing on delivering research and tech-roadmaps to government departments. This highly varied experience sees Andrew function well in multi-disciplinary teams where a key part of his role is often helping diverse specialists come together to solve a problem. Almost always ready to find things funny, part of what has drawn Andrew to a career around cyber security is the overlap between highly structured technical skillsets and the need for an almost jester-like creative approach to considering future threats and red-team options.

Research

Much of Andrew's previous research has been client-facing research delivered to solve specific problems and inform decision makers. As part of a holistic approach to strategic cyber resilience, Andrew is currently looking at:

Manipulating digital systems (red teaming)
Smart Cities and Digital Twins
Comparative Cyber Policies/Doctrines
The training and exercising of cyber professionals
