Terms of Office

  1. Ex-officio members shall hold office only so long as they continue to occupy the office by virtue of which they became members
  2. Members appointed by Council shall be appointed annually and be eligible for re-appointment
  3. Elected or appointed members, other than those appointed by Council, shall hold office for not more than three years and shall normally retire on 31 July next following the second anniversary of their appointment. They shall not be eligible to serve for a further period in the same capacity until the expiration of one year from the end of their term of office.


  1. In regard to Committee meetings: Vice-Chancellor or Provost/Deputy Vice-Chancellor, one Dean and one Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and five other members.
  2. In regard to emergency confirmation of appointments:
    (a) Academic Staff: Vice-Chancellor or Provost/Deputy Vice-Chancellor and one Dean
    (b) Academic-related staff: Vice-Chancellor or Provost/Deputy Vice-Chancellor and one Dean or the Chief Operating Officer

Note: Chair's action may be taken regarding any quoracy changes involving the attendance of the Vice-Chancellor or the Provost/Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
