Arts Committee

Terms of Reference

  1. To maintain a broad oversight of the strategic development of LU Arts.
  2. To consider and approve regular reports on the activities undertaken by LU Arts as well as other public facing activity taking place across the University.
  3. To ensure the effective co-ordination of events taking place across the campus.
  4. To provide an annual report to Senate on the operation and performance of LU Arts, and the full range of its activities, set against strategic objectives.
  5. To provide support, counsel and expertise to the Director of Arts on matters of strategic direction relevant to the present work and future development of LU Arts.
  6. To strengthen LU Arts strategic position in developing and securing funding opportunities.
  7. To have an overview of all public facing events and activities taking place across the campus.
  8. To strengthen the position of LU Arts on a local, regional, national and international level.
  9. To consider proposals for the purchase or commissioning of new art works and to advise on the arrangements for maintenance and security of art holdings on campus, including the Sculpture Trail, in collaboration with Facilities Management and the Archivist.
  10. To advise on and contribute to the promotion of LU Arts and its activities externally, with the objective of establishing mutually beneficial relationships between LU Arts and the wider community in its broadest sense, and in particular with other arts organisation and corporations supportive of the arts.

Reporting Structure

The Arts Committee reports to Senate.

Meetings

Meetings will be held three times a year.
