We will have child friendly activities, too, so why not bring the family along and show them where you studied?

Programme

Throughout the weekend we have activities to suit people of all ages and with different interests.

Whether you are popping along for a day or coming for the whole weekend, we will do our best to ensure you have a brilliant time on campus. We are looking forward to making it an enjoyable and memorable experience for you.

You can find details of all activities below, including costs. Some activities have limited availability, so be sure to book soon to avoid disappointment.

Friday 17 May

FND at Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU), 10:45pm (£7pp)

Relive your student days with a night out at LSU. The Students’ Union welcomes guests from 10:45pm – 4:00am.

FND is one of LSU’s biggest student nights out. There will likely be hundreds of students in attendance. This is a great option to kickstart your weekend and catch up with friends over some drinks and music. It is recommended for more recent graduates – but everyone is welcome! Availability is limited, so book soon to avoid disappointment. Please note that you will be required to show ID on entry.

Saturday 18 May

Our Saturday activities will take you around several areas of campus – new and old!

12.00pm: Food, fun and family games at Shirley Pearce Square

Food priced at £15pp / £10pp for children under 12 / children under 5 go free

Meet up with fellow alumni on Shirley Pearce Square near the east entrance of the campus and enjoy a cold fork platter style lunch. Cold drinks are included. The Martin Hall Café will be open to purchase coffee and other refreshments.

Family games will be available throughout the afternoon and will include large outdoor board game style activities before the chance to take part in a treasure hunt on the campus tour.

During this time, we’d love to hear more about your experiences at Loughborough. You’ll have the chance to get involved with short interviews conducted by one of our students, and to feature on our social media channels! We’ll also have a fun photobooth, so be sure to get some great photos with your friends.

You will also have the chance to meet with the alumni team.

2.30pm: Campus tour

Free

Enjoy a guided tour of the campus in small groups. You will be shown around on foot by a current student who can talk you through what’s on offer on campus and what it is like to be a student today.

Feel free to chat about what’s changed since you studied at Loughborough! You’re bound to notice a difference, whether you graduated five or fifty five years ago.

The tour will provide fun for all the family as we offer you the chance to go on a treasure hunt with chocolate prizes on return!

A minibus will be available for guests who wish to take a guided tour by bus. Please specify in your booking if you have accessibility requirements so that we can offer you this option.

All day, timings TBC: IMS All Stars

Free

Throughout the day, the IMS All Stars will take place across sports pitches on campus. IMS All Stars sees hall teams take on the AU teams in a range of sports. There’ll be a fun and competitive atmosphere as students head out to support their teams in this exciting weekend event.

7.00pm: BBQ at EHB

£25pp

Many of our alumni will remember the Edward Herbert Building (EHB). Whether you’ve used the space and its lecture rooms for study, or if you knew EHB as the location of the students’ union, our BBQ at EHB will be a lovely opportunity to enjoy an evening with fellow alumni at a well-known location on campus.

Weather-dependent, you will also be able to enjoy the newly refurbished space outside.

We will also have live entertainment and we’ll even be joined by a caricaturist! Each person who is drawn will get to take home a fun memento from the weekend.

The menu will include vegetarian and vegan options and some alcoholic drinks will be included. Please let us know your dietary requirements on your booking.

Sunday 19 May

10.30am – 6.00pm (approx.): Loughborough International Athletics and lunch, Paula Radcliffe Athletic Stadium

£12pp

The Loughborough International Athletics is back for its 66th year.

The event will see athletes competing across a range of events in what is widely recognised as the curtain raiser to the outdoor season.

A firm favourite with alumni, this event offers you the chance to see top-class athletics alongside alumni in an exciting atmosphere! Lunch and refreshments will be included in the Pavilion – please let us know your dietary requirements.

Some seating will be available to alumni on the Pavilion steps.

Pre-booking for the alumni ticket for the LIA is essential and places are limited.

You may be able to get standard tickets (without lunch) on the day, but it is not guaranteed. If you’d like to attend the LIA only, make sure you book via our reunion package to get the best price and to be seated in and around the Pavilion area.

Bookings

To book your place on our reunion weekend, you will need to use the University’s Online Store. If you already have an account, you can log in and add the activities to your basket. If you don’t have an account, check-out as a guest or create an account before you make your booking.

If you have any issues using the online store or do not wish to pay by card online, please contact us on events@lboro.ac.uk and we will do our best to help. Please note that we cannot accept cash, but we can arrange to accept cheque payments.

Free events also need to be booked via the Online Store. You may be asked to confirm your details for payment, but please note that payments will not be taken if you have selected free events.

Booking guidance

All bookings, including for the activities that are free, should be made via the Online Store. Bookings are now open. We recommend using this webpage to plan out which activities you would like to attend first, and then head to the Online Store to select each activity and build your weekend!

If you would like to book activities for more than one person, make your selection for guest one, add to basket, and then select “add attendee” to return to the activities page to add your guests’ selection to the basket. If you wish to make a booking as a large group, we recommend that you book separately.

You will be asked to complete some personal details, and to let us know about any dietary or access requirements, once you are checking out. If you forget to let us know some of your requirements, send us an email.

You can check out as a guest or log in to the Online Store. You may have an account if you have paid for an event before. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it.

If you have any issues, please get in touch via events@lboro.ac.uk and we will do our best to help!

Attending as a group

If you are attending the reunion as a group – big or small – let us know! We will work with you to ensure that we can keep your group together for campus tours and other activities that you wish to attend. We can also arrange to get a group photograph taken, and we’d love to chat with you to hear more about your group. We will also try to keep people from similar eras together for campus tours.

If you are coming as a group, it is easier to book as individuals / couples in the online store. It is possible to make a group booking, but if you are able to book separately, this is our recommendation.

You are welcome to build your own activities in to the weekend and to join the rest of the reunion wherever you see fit.

If you’re looking to track down peers, please let us know names and any details that you may have by emailing alumni@lboro.ac.uk. If we have contact details for your peers, we can contact them with a message on your behalf.

Utilising free time

Whether you are coming along with a group of friends from university, bringing your family along, or coming by yourself to reflect on your time at Loughborough, you may wish to explore the town or campus in your free time.

The programme has been designed so that you can choose what to get involved with and so that you can organise your free time to suit you.

Town

In Loughborough town centre, there are always many changes and developments. You could walk in or catch the Sprint bus to have a look at the market (Saturdays) or see where you used to live.

Pubs

If you fancy an evening out for food or drinks, there are many places to choose from. The Baxter Gate development contains several chain restaurants, whilst throughout the town there are many pubs serving food or just for drinks. Maybe you’ll even find the pub that you used to visit when you were at Loughborough! A lovely trip down memory lane.

Walks

There are many wonderful walking routes and places to visit in Loughborough and its surrounding areas. For instance, Beacon Hill and Bradgate Park are great options for a nice walk and a coffee, but if you fancy keeping it short and sweet and a bit nearer to campus, you could enjoy some fresh air in Queen’s Park.

Accessibility

When making your booking for the Alumni Reunion Weekend, please ensure you let us know about any dietary and accessibility requirements.

For information about accessing our campus and the facilities available, visit AccessAble.

During the reunion, we would love to share your memories of your time at Loughborough. Please feel free to bring along your photographs to share. If you have any items or memorabilia that you would like to bring, please let us know first, so we can make sure that we have a space where you can show your item.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the Alumni team on alumni@lboro.ac.uk

Please note that if you have received an invitation to our donor activities, those are booked separately. See your email for further details as the donor lunch is by invitation only.
