A PhD in Law provides the essential foundation for an academic career in Law, as well providing students with a depth of expert knowledge and highly advanced research and writing skills beneficial to a leading career in legal practice, government policy or administration, and other related fields. 

As a PhD student you will receive research methods training and have the opportunity to develop teaching skills, participate in conferences, and become part of local and international associations and networks in your field.

Our staff supervise postgraduate research across a wide range of areas of law, and generally in socio-legal studies, critical legal studies, feminist legal studies and interdisciplinary legal studies, including both theoretical and empirical methodologies.
