Meet Dr Jennie Hancox
Dr Jennie Hancox is the postgraduate Programme Leader for Psychology of Exercise Rehabilitation.
This programme will develop your fundamental knowledge, understanding and skills across all aspects of rehabilitation sciences in an exercise context, as well as developing an in-depth insight into the psychological factors that influence the rehabilitation process.
Teaching is delivered by research-active academics, like Jennie, who are driving forward understanding of the skills and techniques required to excel within the sector.
Jennie’s research interests include motivation and behaviour change, psychological factors influencing uptake and adherence to exercise, and social interaction and communication.
Providing support to participate in rehabilitation
Jennie utilised her expertise motivational theories to develop evidence-based guidance and training for healthcare teams in the NHS and fitness industry partners, such as Les Mills International.
Movement, physical activity and exercise are core components of rehabilitation programmes but are only effective if individuals are provided with the necessary psychological support to actively participate in such programmes. I am excited that we are able to provide an course that offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in relation to the psychological principles of exercise-related rehabilitation.
