Booking display space in the Library
The Library offers a variety of spaces in the building that can be booked for displays, events and stands (subject to availability). As a busy hub of student studies with extensive opening hours and footfall, we could be the ideal location for your activity as we have large numbers of users through our door each day.
We have regularly hosted stands and displays by:
- the University Chaplaincy
- Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity
- Loughborough Sport
- Maths Learning Support Centre
- LU Arts
- EDI & MAIA events
How do I book a space?
The best way to do this would be to contact the Library's Experience and Environments Lead via email. They will want to know:
- what date(s) you would like to book
- what the purpose of the display/stand is
- if you needed any tables/chairs/display boards
They will then check availability of the space and confirm your booking. You are welcome to visit the Library in person to discuss options as it is often useful to visualise the spaces that are available for booking.
Accessibility
The Pilkington Library is accessible by anyone who uses a wheelchair or has other problems with mobility. A lift is available in the Library building so that all four Levels can be accessed by everyone..
There are two allocated car parking spaces in the Library car park for users who are registered as disabled and have the relevant disabled sticker displayed in their vehicle.
The Library has been assessed for accessibility by an external company as part of a wider project on campus. A full report of what is available in the Library can be found under the Pilkington Library entry on the Access Able webpage.
Accessibility of display materials
The Library accessibility guidance contains checklists and guidance to try and simplify government regulations and advisory information to make it easier to implement accessible resources. It contains checklists of all the minimum criteria that presentations, video recordings and documents should conform to.
If you need some advice on the accessibility of your materials before you have a stand, you can contact the Library's Student Experience and Accessibility Librarian for advice.
