Lucy is a part-time MPhil researcher exploring the impact of flooding on children and responsive caregiving in Kenya. She is also the REF Administrator based in the Research and Innovation Office, supporting the University’s preparations for REF 2029.
She began her career as a Level 6 Early Years Practitioner and completed a BA (Hons) in Children’s Care, Learning and Development (2017, Teesside University), gaining hands-on experience in early childhood pedagogy and holistic approaches to care. She also has a background in paediatric nursing and holds a Postgraduate Diploma (2022, Sheffield Hallam University), which strengthened her expertise in the social determinants of health, early childhood development, and sparked her interest in perinatal mental health and wellbeing.
Lucy’s research focusses on the impact of flooding on responsive relationships and caregiving in Kenya.
Her research combines the practical and theoretical elements of her background to understand how environmental and social factors influence caregiving and child outcomes, with a particular focus on health policy to enhance preparedness and resilience in the context of a changing climate.
