Profile
Guolanqi is a doctoral researcher in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University, supervised by Professor Richard Giulianotti with Dr Doyoung Pyun as co-supervisor.
Her doctoral research focuses on constructing a new model and framework for understanding the influence of Chinese sports stars. She examines how athletes shape public life from social, cultural, and economic perspectives, with particular attention to the role of celebrity influence in encouraging mass participation in sport, contributing to the growth of the sports industry, and shaping social values. By integrating insights from social media communication and the evolving sports economy, she aims to develop a comprehensive evaluative framework through a mixed-methods approach, offering a nuanced understanding of the multi-layered impact of sports stars in contemporary society.
