Brief F
Celebration of Sport (Image). Loughborough Sport.
Create a modern version of the image below – which is a replica of the original stained-glass windows in Hazlerigg Building, Loughborough University, UK .
While it is important to keep this image as it is a reflection of Loughborough’s sporting history, this image is from over 100 year ago. We are looking to create a more modern version to be placed alongside this one.
The primary driver would be to be to show how we in society have become more diverse across sports and more inclusive of gender, disability, ethnicity, along with empowerment of a broad range of sports and participants, which reflects the greater understanding how important sport is to a community and society.
Loughborough Sport is looking for an image to be place with this one that is more suitable to the current sporting landscape, which would involve talking to some staff and students about what they might like to see and then to design this artwork to reflect their feedback and the current environment.
The brief is to deliver a wall-mounted image, painting, or multi-media (requiring no power source) that reflects a celebration of inclusive sports involves creating opportunities for everyone, regardless of background or ability, to participate and feel valued in sports and physical activities. Raising awareness has several benefits:
- Promotes physical activity and mental health benefits for all, combatting prejudice and fostering empathy and compassion.
- Fostering a sense of community, belonging, and friendship among participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Providing opportunities for individuals to develop teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
- Encourages greater involvement in sports for individuals who may otherwise be sidelined.
An aspect of the highlighted benefits should be clearly presented in an evocative and eye-catching manner.
